Sustainability in Action at Content5 - We Have Accounted for the Common Good Since 2023!

November 2023

At Content5, we have been thinking about how we can make our business more sustainable and ethical. There was immediate agreement: A simple declaration isn’t good enough for us, it needs to be in black and white, and in the form of a certificate. With this ambition in mind, we went to work in 2022: We became a member of the Economy for the Common Good (ECG) organisation and began implementing the first steps. After half a year, the process was complete in the form of our first Common Good Balance Sheet, and we proudly received our ECG certification.

What exactly is a Common Good Balance Sheet?

The Common Good Balance Sheet is a form of non-financial reporting that is prepared in parallel to a financial balance sheet. This covers the company's contribution to the common good that stems from its economic activities. It is achieved by looking at and evaluating the company's interaction with its stakeholders - e.g. suppliers, employees, customers and the social environment. The focus is on aspects of human dignity, solidarity and social justice, environmental sustainability and transparency and co-determination.

To take a closer look, you can take a peek at our balance sheet (in German).

What is next for Content5?

During the initial change process, various actions were set in motion, which we are currently working on. These measures will at first impact only our internal operations but are expected to yield external effects in the medium term. In 2024, our re-evaluation for the reporting cycle 2022/2023 will be due. Our goal is to implement all the potential improvements we have identified and to significantly increase the total of the balance sheet. After all, the first balance sheet was only the starting point of a process in which we want to continuously improve. In the end, everyone will benefit from this: our employees, our suppliers and customers, society and the environment.
