White paper: Our insights and practical suggestions for the use of AI

December 2024

Automation, increased efficiency, better results… AI tools promise a lot. What can they really achieve, especially in the context of professional research? As already mentioned in previous blog posts, we have embarked on a journey of implementing AI tools in practice over a period of several months in order to get to the bottom of this question. It has been our goal to recognise the opportunities, risks and limitations of AI in order to identify the potential use of these tools in our company.

We summarised our experiences and findings in a white paper where we detail our methodology/ approach, the insights we gained and our practical advice to you, should you use AI in your company. If you are interested in the white paper (available only in German), please get in touch with us via our contact form (https://www.content5.de/en/contact) or at kontakt@content5.de.

Here, we’ve summarised our key findings for you.

What works well and what doesn't?

Our tests revealed that AI tools are particularly useful for summarising or translating text, as well as solving technical issues. AI can also be helpful when brainstorming or when looking for inspiration. In our use of AI as a search engine, however, we quickly saw the tools reach their limits. They were quite error-prone and unable to conduct accurate fact-checks or reliably evaluate sources against relevance and recency. In addition, sensitive client data cannot be securely processed across all available tools. Unfortunately, this is a non-negotiable in our work.

What do our results indicate about the use of AI tools in professional research?

AI tools can increase the efficiency and quality of research in individual cases, but they cannot replace human skill. Because of this, we can only use AI to supplement other resources. The contextual knowledge of experts and their subsequent assessment of search results remain essential to the quality of research. At least for now...

FYI, this entry was written without AI input. We did, however, rely on AI to help generate the image.
